Not even dead will they let her rest. This Saturday, between half past twelve and half past two, someone -or some- approached the makeshift altar that honors the memory of Alana, the 12-year-old girl who wanted to be identified as Iván, and her sister Leila, recovering from serious injuries. Both were thrown into the void on Tuesday afternoon.

They left two letters. One told that she was not going to leave the other alone, that she identified the bullying she received at school and in high school, first because of her origin, Argentina, because of her character, because she stood up to the bullies, and in the last two months, for his decision to make the transition to a new genre.

The perpetrators of these acts of vandalism approached and did not respect the signs of support and solidarity that people have been leaving. In one they painted with black spray “Corrupt City Hall” and in the other “squatters”, in relation to the economic situation of the family of the little ones. By early afternoon, the graffiti had already been erased.

Lucas and Maia, the parents of the sisters, found out about the graffiti while at the Sallent funeral home where the wake is being held this Saturday, where the little girl’s maternal grandmother and paternal grandfather have been able to arrive.

The images with the graffiti spread like wildfire in Sallent, in the face of the indignation and impotence of the relatives and the friends of the young people. In fact, they hope that the security camera of the restaurant that is right in front of the door has recorded the author or authors of the unjustifiable hooliganism.

On Sunday a mass will be celebrated, also like today, in the privacy of the family and relatives. The parents want to take their daughter’s ashes back with them to Argentina, as soon as Leila is discharged.

All the procedures related to the funeral are being held identifying the victim as Alana and in female. This is how the parents decided, not because they were against the process that her daughter had entrusted to her sister and her most trusted friends, but because they were unaware of that will and only know it through references. Hence, the information signed by this editor in this newspaper, both on the web and in print, respects that same family will to identify the victim as Alana, without forgetting in the chronicles that she had expressed her desire to start the path to a gender change.
