Simplicity, concreteness and everyday gestures are the axes on which the Barcelona Poetry festival revolves, which takes place until May 22 and features the participation of poets such as Mireia Calafell, Miquel Desclot, Valentina Colonna, Anja Golob and Abdellatif Laâbi, among others. Barcelona Poetry, illustrated with images from the series “Relationships. Relationship of the body with natural elements in everyday actions” by Fina Miralles, wants people to stop and marvel at the things they think they have already learned: because in repetition and rediscovering lies the game and enjoyment of poetry.
In this edition, the festival proposes to open the possibilities of verse and enjoy it both in the festival’s usual spaces and in streets and squares. For example, today, Poetry Translation Slam (Italian) at the Ateneu Barcelonès (5 p.m.); recitals Voices from near and far (6 p.m.) and To you, my voice (7 p.m.), in the gardens of the Casa de la Misericòrdia; and recital 180 years of odes to Barcelona at MUHBA Plaça del Rei (7:30 p.m.).

On Monday, from 4 p.m., different recitals at the Frederic Marès Museum. Tuesday, 21, conversation and recital La fuerza de la palabra dicha in the Guinardó – Mercè Rodoreda library (6.30 p.m.) and in the large auditorium of the University of Barcelona, recital and round table Francesc Ferrer Lerín: the poet as quebrantahuesos (7 p.m. ), among other activities. The festival will close on Wednesday, May 22 at the Palau de la Música Catalana with the 39th Barcelona International Poetry Festival (8 p.m.). Except for the latter, the activities are free. Tomorrow, Saturday, the 18th, the city’s museums and surrounding municipalities celebrate their big day, International Museum Day, a celebration that, for the first time in the last five years, coincides with Museum Night, in which the doors are kept open until dawn. Day or night… everyone in the museum! This year, 87 metropolitan museum spaces, with notable additions, celebrate Museum Night.
They will keep the doors open between seven in the afternoon and one in the morning for anyone who wants to see the exhibitions or permanent collections, or participate in any of the activities that are organized. The museums of Barcelona (but also Badalona, Cornellà, Esplugues, l’Hospitalet, Sant Adrià, Sant Joan Despí and Santa Coloma) are expected to organize 171 proposals. Both these activities and access to the museum during open days will have free entry, although in some cases prior registration is required. ·
The LGTBI Center of Barcelona celebrates its fifth anniversary party tomorrow, Saturday, within the framework of the International Day against LGTBI-phobia. The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. at the LGTBI Center, on Comte Borrell Street (between Parlament and Marquès de Campo Sagrado) with activities such as a special episode of Kobra Kuir, the talk show hosted by Norma Mor / Muerte en la Norma.
