The meeting, of a playful nature, is at the same time a vindication of grassroots sport. “We are a club in which the base categories have always been very important in the configuration of this. Teams that have learned to play together and that later have played and play in the highest categories. We believe in all the good things that practice brings us sport and in the values ??of swimming and water polo. Effort and teamwork. This meeting seeks to contribute our grain of sand in all this”, explained the president of the C.N. Vallirana, Neus Tarazona.

The head of the club also highlights the 70th anniversary of the start-up of the Vallirana outdoor Olympic pool, a benchmark for swimming in Catalonia. The club claims the need to return to the pool its competitive and avant-garde character in Catalan and Spanish swimming, as a benchmark for one of the first Olympic pools in the state. Turning it back into a recognized swimming pool in all level swimming and water polo circuits. “The 50m pool is already today a historical reference for our municipality, we need to recover it”, added Neus Tarazona.

The C. N. Vallirana founded in 1954 is one of the historic swimming clubs in Catalonia, the second to be founded in Baix Llobregat and to incorporate water polo, sporadically from the beginning, although it began to compete regularly in competitions official for the 1974-1975 season.

At present, the team has absolute teams, in the highest categories. In the case of women, to the First National Division of Spain and in the case of men, in the Second National Division. Although a small club, C.N. Vallirana is also one of the regulars in the main swimming competitions that are held both in Catalonia and Spain, practically since its foundation. In this last stage, it has reached its maximum level, reaching international swimmers (Europeans, world cups, pre-Olympic), as well as home-bred water polo players, in world championships in different categories.
