The new Real Madrid is taking shape. After yesterday making official the hiring of full-back Fran García, a former youth player who is recovering from Rayo Vallecano for five million, the white club made official this Saturday morning the return of Brahim Diaz, who returns from AC Milan, where he has been on loan for three last seasons. The man from Malaga comes with the role of replacing Marco Asensio, who was out of contract and did not want to renew. Brahim’s presentation will be on Tuesday at noon in Valdebebas. Brahim’s contract with the whites is until June 2027.

At 23 years old, he turns 24 in August, Brahim has established himself at AC Milan, where he has been the undisputed starter. Madrid signed him from Manchester City, where he spent three seasons, from 2016 to 2019, in which, due to his youth, he only played five games for Guardiola’s team, although he showed signs of being a great player. In that winter of 2019 Florentino Pérez paid City 17 million for him plus another seven in variables.

However, Brahim was never liked by Zidane. In his first season with the whites, the man from Malaga only played nine games. He fared even worse the following season, 2019-20, in which he played six, which led him to accept a loan at AC Milan for two seasons, which he later increased by one more.

At AC Milan Brahim has played 124 games and won a scudetto last season. This season he has reached the semifinals of the Champions League and has been a key player in the team. He has signed seven goals and seven assists for a total of 45 games. The Lombard team was interested in continuing to count on him, but Asensio’s departure has meant that Madrid have exercised their rights to recover the player in whom they initially placed their hopes in him. Brahim is a key piece along with Bellingham for the ‘renewal plan’ of his veteran midfield. Kroos and Modric will be able to dose more.
