The Barcelona winger Pablo Urdangarín will be a Fraikin BM Granollers player for the next two seasons, until 2025, as the Vallesan club has made official.

The player, despite having other offers, already made a commitment with the Catalan entity a few months ago, but had to wait for his current contract with FC Barcelona to expire before signing a new commitment and joining with the letter of freedom.

Urdangarín, 22, will form a duo on the extreme right with Sergi Franco, thus replacing Víctor de Sande, whose contract was terminated.

The young player, who throughout the season has been alternating the first team with the Barça subsidiary, is one of the seven Barça homegrown players who have made their debut in the Barça first team since Carlos Ortega came to the bench in the summer of 2021.

“Normally, Pablo always takes advantage of his minutes” Ortega had declared about the rotation in which Urdangarín entered, who did not find a place at FC Barcelona due to the presence of figures like Aleix Gómez and Blaz Janc.

The right-handed winger, who is 1.94m tall and weighs 85kg, has scored 53 goals in the 29 games he has played over two seasons with Barça in the Asobal League.

In addition, he has won four titles with the Catalans: two ASOBAL Leagues, one Catalunya Super Cup, and one Champions League.

“I think I can go quite far and I trust myself, so we’ll see,” the youngster told Barça TV a few months ago.

Urdangarín becomes the fourth addition to the umpteenth reconstruction of Fraikin BM Granollers, which has already announced pivot Iván Montoya, left-back Andrei Buzle and goalkeeper Roberto Rodríguez.

At Granollers he will seek to consolidate himself in a sport in which he wants to stand out by staying away from the spotlight because he is the nephew of the current King of Spain, Felipe VI.
