Spain returns to the routine with very cold, wind and with an Isolated Depression at High Levels (DANA) around the corner, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).

For this Monday, a northwest Atlantic flow already in retreat, followed by the approach of an Atlantic front from the west will bring cloudy skies in the north, with weak rainfall in the eastern Cantabrian Sea, without ruling out the upper Ebro, Iberian system, Pyrenees and nearby areas. These rains may be snow, but less intense and less likely than in previous days.

In the rest of the Peninsula, significant cloudiness is expected and the entry of an Atlantic front will increase cloudiness from west to east and may leave rainfall in the southwest quadrant, more likely and abundant in Huelva and Extremadura. In the Balearic Islands, a Mediterranean storm will leave cloudy intervals with probable occasional showers in the east of the archipelago.

Regarding temperatures, we will continue with winter values, according to Aemet. Maximum temperatures will increase in the Canary Islands and the south of the peninsula, the pre-Pyrenees and the Cantabrian mountain range, and a slight decrease in the rest, more pronounced in the center of the Northern plateau.

There will be weak frosts in large areas of the interior of the peninsula, being more intense in the mountains, even strong in the Pyrenees. In Burgos, Palencia or León the maximum will not exceed 4 degrees and the minimum will be negative.

Starting on Tuesday, Aemet anticipates the entry of a DANA through the Cantabrian Sea. As a consequence, an episode of snowfall is expected to begin and last throughout Wednesday and Thursday, with precipitation throughout practically the entire Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. However, the agency explains that there is high uncertainty regarding the snow level.

Regarding temperatures, on Tuesday and Wednesday frosts are expected on the southern plateau, mountain systems and a good part of the northern half of the peninsula, which on Thursday will also extend to a good part of the southern interior of the peninsula, and which could be locally strong in the Cantabrian mountain range, Iberian system, Pyrenees and Central system.
