The area around Seattle’s favorite landmark might be feeling particularly electric over the next few days.

During a bought of wild weather yesterday afternoon, the Space Needle was struck by lighting. Twice.

A Space Needle staffer caught the whole incident and posted it to the landmark’s Twitter account at 3:37 p.m.

Then, at 4:33 p.m., a second video was posted showing another strike:

KOMO News reports that the Needle is prepared for these (rare) incidents, and that it’s equipped with 24 lightning rods plus the tower itself to channel lightning’s energy into the ground and away from anything important.

The Needle did not report any significant damage and there were no reports of injuries.
