A man has agreed to serve a three-year prison sentence for trying to kill a neighbor in 2022 who came to defend his girlfriend, whom he was assaulting in her apartment and whom he threatened to kill.
The convicted person has accepted being the perpetrator of an attempted homicide in the conformity trial that was held this Monday in the second section of the Valencia Court. Along with the prison sentence, he must compensate the victim with 4,000 euros and the Ministry of Health with another 854 euros for the assistance provided.
The Prosecutor’s Office requested eight years in prison for the man for these events, which occurred on March 12, 2022 in the Valencia apartment where the couple resided. During a strong discussion, according to the account of the public ministry, the man was heard attacking her girlfriend and threatening to kill her.
Before her screams, several neighbors went up to the couple’s house. The woman left with her three-year-old son in her arms and took refuge in the house of one of the neighbors who came to her aid. The man, in his attempt to prevent his escape, cornered this neighbor and stabbed him several times. Other people managed to separate it and prevent the death of the person who suffered the brutal attack.
In addition, the convicted man confessed to the agents who appeared after what happened: “It was me, I stabbed him”; “Calm down, he’s alive, he was going around his neck but it didn’t go in.” The man has been in pretrial detention for these events since March 2022.
