Before the tunnel boring machine that must cross the Eixample from Plaza Espanya to Gràcia begins work, the Generalitat will carry out a campaign of inspections in 1,066 homes, premises and parking lots that are around the future underground route of the extension of the L8 of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat (FGC). It is the usual prevention protocol every time important works begin in the subsoil from the Carmel sinkhole and it has been strictly applied in recent years along the entire route of metro line 9, where some defects were detected in the corner from Mandri street to Bonanova promenade.

This week, technicians from the Territori department have begun to appear in the neighborhood communities located around the future Hospital Clínic and Francesc Macià stations, as well as at the Consell de Cent emergency exit. It is near this last point, at number 93, where the neighbors of a farm have reported a crack that has been reviewed by technicians and is considered prior to the services diversion work that has begun to be done near the farm. .

These are the first thousand inspections of the 13,000 that are planned between this year and next, when the tunnel boring machine will begin to travel the more than 4 kilometers, although control will be centered around the stations since the tunnel will be built at a high speed. depth. In addition to visual inspections, monitoring equipment will be installed inside the buildings and on the facades to detect any damage.

The controls allow the state of conservation and small issues that may be detected to be written down before the work begins. In this way, the owners of the properties are given a document signed by both parties that certifies their condition and the evolution during the works can be verified and the administration can assume the necessary repairs if they are necessary.

Starting on March 9, the works on Urgell Street will also be more noticeable, which will be left with two traffic lanes between Rosselló and Còrsega. The sidewalk will also be narrowed due to service diversion work.

In addition, between Plaza Francesc Macià and Buenos Aires Street, traffic will be completely cut off during the days of Holy Week. There will only be one lane enabled so that cars can access the parking lot next to the Maria Luz Morales square. The bus lines that pass through here will also see their routes modified.
