At least four people have lost their lives and 16 have been injured in the collapse at a time of full activity at the Medusa Beach Club restaurant, a food and drinks establishment located on the first line of Playa de Palma, one of the busiest areas. by tourists, visitors and neighbors. 

The collapse was caused by the fall of the first floor structure onto the ground floor, which in turn collapsed onto the basement. In total, two plants have been affected. The Balearic authorities are working with the hypothesis that an overload could have caused the fall. 

In the establishment, according to witnesses, there were numerous customers, many of them foreign tourists, since in Playa de Palma, an area that mainly attracts German visitors, the high season has already begun.

In fact, the fatal victims of the restaurant collapse were a Spanish worker, two German tourists and another customer of Senegalese origin, as confirmed this Friday by the National Police. 

As a result of this tragedy, Palma City Council has declared three days of mourning for the death of these four people. In addition, he has called for an extraordinary plenary session and a minute of silence in his memory for this Friday.
