I share in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia this night photograph of the Capellades Paper Mill Museum, in the region of Anoia, a spectacular museum.
Between the 18th and 19th centuries, Capellades and its surroundings constituted one of the most important paper centers in Spain, specializing in top quality beard paper and cigarette papers.
Manufacturers such as Romaní, Soteras, Guarro, Serra or Romeu, among others, supplied a large part of the Spanish, South American and Philippine markets.
The Paper Mill Museum is located in the old Molí de la Vila paper mill, which preserves the typical structure of the 18th century paper mills.
Next to the mill is the Bassa, a water spring from the Carme-Capellades aquifer, which was used by 16 paper mills: the Costa mills.
In the museum, as detailed, the visitor can see the entire process until the finished paper came out and can also participate in the workshops making a sheet of paper with their own hands.
