Adam Armstrong can clearly remember how it was to grow up under the strict conditions in the city of Harrisonburg in the u.s. state of Virginia.
So in the previous weekend he returned with a truck filled with attractive gifts to the children in a poor residential area in his hometown. Gifts to a total value of 12.000 us dollars, equivalent to slightly more than 80,000 Danish kroner.

– I feel very blessed.
Wearing a nissehue gave the generous man gifts to all the attending children, after which he went ahead and did the same in the three other poor residential areas of Harrisonburg. The rest of the gifts donated he for the Salvation Army.

– I remember Harrisonburg as a small, friendly town. I remember the state-owned housing and a lot of poverty, crime, drugs, violence and the kind of. Every time I see children, I know that it is not their fault that they are where they are.
Sara Lewis-Weeks, there is boligmanager for housing Harris Gardens, tells NBC that Adam Armstrong on the Wednesday before came crashing into her office during lunch break.
– He comes in and says, ‘what are you going on Saturday? I would like to give a lot of toys away’ and I’m like, ‘well, I don’t know really’, says Sara Lewis-Weeks.
She was initially very skeptical about the man’s true intentions, but as soon as she had confirmed his story that he had earned a good fortune out of selling homes, she said immediately yes. Boligmanageren got printed flyers, which she shared out to area children, so they knew they were going to meet up Saturday morning for the gaveuddelingen.
Adam Armstrong tells the media that he has had a tradition of sharing christmas gifts out since december 2013.
