At times, you must be fast or you are going to be food.

An alligator reportedly chased several people through a Wendy’s parking lot in Florida. Fortunately, police were reportedly able to acquire the animal under control before anybody was hurt.

The episode happened in Lehigh Acres, Florida, the New York Post reports. The six-foot-long gator was likely just trying to move from one body of water into another when it entered the parking lot.

According to the local sheriff’s department, the animal chased several pedestrians in the Wendy’s parking lot, however.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Twitter accounts posted about the episode, writing,”Deputies responded to Lee Blvd today after this 6-ft gator chased pedestrians via a Wendy’s parking lot. He might have only been”hangry” for a cheeseburger, but he gave several rather the scare! Together with FWC, we wrangled the gator and proceeded it.”

The Sheriff’s Twitter accounts posted several photos of the large creature, including one that shows officials wrangling the gator from behind. One employee can be seen sitting on the gator’s back, holding its mouth shut while several other officials maintain the creature still with capture rods.

The Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District also tweeted about the incident, writing,”We will be undergoing a slightly delayed reaction time leaving Lehigh Acres Health & Rehab.”

The rescue unit posted footage of this gator ambling round the parking lot, but no one appears to be close to the creature from the video.
