A disciplinary attorney committee requested that Giuliani’s licence be suspended. He had falsely stated to the courts, public and lawmakers, as he promoted theories that the election was fraudulently stolen.

The court granted the request, writing that “this country is being torn apart par continued attacks on the legitimacy for the 2020 election as well as of our current president Joseph R. Biden.” Free and fair elections are the foundation of democracy. False statements that are intended to undermine confidence in elections and the resulting loss in confidence in the government can damage the functioning of a free society.

Giuliani will no longer be able to represent clients as a lawyer, according to the ruling signed Thursday.

Giuliani’s lawyers stated in a statement, that it was “unprecedented,” for Giuliani be suspended before being “against the issues that are alleged.”

Attorneys Barry Kamins, John Leventhal stated that Mr. Giuliani would be reinstated once all the issues have been fully discussed at a hearing.

The court ruled that Giuliani had “communicated demonstrably falsified and misleading statements to courts and lawmakers as well as the general public” while working for Trump.

Giuliani claimed that the investigation into his conduct was in violation of his First Amendment right to free speech. He also stated that he didn’t knowingly make false statements.

These arguments were rejected by the court, who noted that Giuliani in Pennsylvania failed to provide any evidence “for any of the varying, wildly inconsistent number of dead persons he actually represented voted in Philadelphia during 2020’s presidential election.”

Giuliani, who was standing at a conference in front Four Seasons Total Landscaping outside Philadelphia and claiming they would challenge Trump’s claims of a massive conspiracy by Democrats, was Trump’s primary mouthpiece after the 2020 election.

An angry mob made up of pro-Trump rioters gathered at the U.S. Capitol to blockade the U.S. Capitol Jan. 6, in an attempt to stop President Biden’s win. Since then, Republicans have used this lie to push for stricter voting laws across the country.

Federal prosecutors are currently investigating Giuliani’s interactions with figures in Ukraine, while he tried to get the country to investigate Biden’s son.

In April, Federal agents raided Giuliani’s home office and took electronic devices including computers and phones.

This investigation examines whether Giuliani had to register in the U.S. as a foreign agent. Giuliani worked with some Ukrainian leaders who were interested in Giuliani’s help in lobbying the Trump administration for the removal of the U.S. ambassador.

Giuliani could face additional consequences in Georgia. Giuliani made statements to Georgian legislative committees that cast doubt on the legitimacy and validity of the state’s election. These statements were cited by the New York court. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Williams has opened a criminal probe into possible attempts to influence the 2020 Georgia election. This investigation includes “the making false statements to state or local governmental entities.”

David S. Weinstein, a former federal prosecutor, stated that Giuliani will not be unable to lobby or provide security consulting services, but that it will likely prevent him from practicing law in other jurisdictions.

Giuliani would have to inform other states about the suspension. This, he stated, “in all probability will cause them to say: ‘You won’t be able practice here.’
