The Community of Madrid chaired by Isabel Díaz Ayuso is finalizing a collaboration agreement with Glovo to provide food in their homes to vulnerable people who are users of soup kitchens and have health problems or reduced mobility. It is a service for which the delivery company will not have “economic consideration”.

This has been confirmed by the Minister of Social Policy and Families, Concepción Dancausa, in plenary session of the regional Assembly, asked about this question by the deputy of Más Madrid Emilio Delgado, who has censured that Glovo is the company chosen for this work when it accumulates Sanctions for false self-employment and irregular employment of foreigners.

Dancausa has defended that “all the sanctions that Glovo has are prior to the ‘rider law'”, which forces them to hire workers who are false self-employed.

And he has pointed out that the offer made by the multinational should have been made by the Post Office, but it is involved in other issues such as “issuing a commemorative stamp of the Communist Party or promoting the president’s wife, Pedro Sánchez.”

In this line, it has censored that the members of United We Can the Government charge against companies such as Mercadona or Inditex.

“Glovo makes its technology available to social entities to facilitate the distribution of food baskets to people in vulnerable situations,” said Dancausa, adding that since 2020, thanks to the work of the company, 700 tons have been recovered of food and more than 200,000 baskets have been delivered.

According to Dancausa, Glovo works with entities such as Cáritas or the Down Syndrome Foundation, but the left “is only interested in problems with the Labor Inspectorate.”

For his part, the deputy Emilio Delgado has made ugly the Community of Madrid for considering Glovo the “ideal company” to distribute food in soup kitchens while “raising a fortune crushing the labor rights of workers, with practices more than questionable”.

“It is a cartel, a public danger and a sample of the most stark capitalism that ignores labor rights and the European Union,” Delgado said about the home delivery company, with which the Government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso intends to that “ultra precarious workers distribute food to vulnerable families”.

In addition, he has affirmed that the PP “is not capable of imagining a Madrid that does not seem like a huge Monopoly and with posh airs” for “people from outside”, and has added: “I’m sorry, I’m not stupid, that in May you vote Glovo”.
