The National Police have arrested a 24-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Almería in Barcelona. As reported by the police force, the alleged attacker met the victim through a video game, gained her trust, exchanged erotic images and had a sexual encounter in a hotel in Almería. On the individual’s computer, the Police have located numerous pedophile material and are pending to analyze whether there may be other victims.

As explained by the National Police, after meeting in an online video game, they began to talk on social networks and messaging applications. The defendant even came to give her several gifts to win her over and suggested that she travel 800 kilometers from Barcelona to see her. Even knowing that he was only 14 years old, he wanted to have sex with her.

Shortly after the meeting took place in a hotel in Almería, the minor reported the events at a local police station in mid-February. From there, the now detainee began to emotionally blackmail him so that he would not incriminate him.

In fact, according to the Police, the young man threatened the minor with denouncing him for having taken advantage of a person with a disability, implying that he suffered from some type of disability. A threat he later repeated to the victim’s mother and brother.

However, the agents opened an investigation, after verifying that there was numerous graphic evidence on the minor’s mobile phone that corroborated his testimony, so in early March they identified the suspect, arrested him and searched his home, where they located numerous digital devices with information relevant to the investigation.

With the support of the Central Cybercrime Unit, the police officers obtained evidence of the facts denounced by the minor as well as other crimes, such as possession of child pornography, since they located numerous pedophile material on his computer.

The agents are now pending to analyze these images and the contents of seven hard drives and a mobile phone, among others, to determine if the arrested person could have committed similar crimes with other victims.
