A woman in Miami Beach shared a scary experience with the police after an attempted sexual assault at a lifeguard stand. The incident took place on a relaxing night at Mid-Beach around 8 p.m. on August 30th. The victim was alone on the beach when she was grabbed from behind, her nose was bloodied, and she was told not to scream. She fought back against the attacker, and witnesses intervened, causing him to flee before the police arrived.

The victim recounted the terrifying ordeal to responding Miami Beach Police officers, expressing how the assailant kept telling her, “It’s just sex. Shut up, don’t say anything. It’s just sex.” The attacker was later identified as 37-year-old Randi Alexander Dawson and was arrested by detectives.

This incident occurred just a month and a half after another serious assault at the beach. 7News had previously reported on a Beachwalk rape on July 16th, where a rollerblader was ambushed. The coverage and surveillance video led to the arrest of Keith Hill Jr., a registered sex offender from Illinois, on Hollywood Beach.

Fortunately, in the case of the August 30th assault, the victim had the help of passersby and fought back vigorously. She bit the attacker’s hand, screamed for help, and did not give in to his demands. Despite suffering minor injuries, she exhibited bravery and resilience during the traumatic event.

The responding Miami Beach Police officer showed empathy towards the victim, expressing sadness over what had happened to her. The victim, who was on vacation with her daughter, was in a state of shock following the attack. Dawson was charged with battery and is currently in custody awaiting trial.

It is essential for beachgoers to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings, especially during evening hours when incidents like these can occur. The quick response of witnesses and law enforcement played a crucial role in apprehending the perpetrator and ensuring the victim’s safety.
