A luxury sports car of the Ferrari brand caught fire on Monday morning in the Ronda Litoral in Barcelona (B-10). The incident took place at the Bac de Roda exit while the vehicle was traveling in the Llobregat direction. For reasons that are still unknown, the car began to burn from the back from where the fire spread, which was put out by the fire brigade.
The fire forced the driver of the car to stop on the shoulder (he should have put on his reflective vest when leaving the passenger compartment). But the little space available to park the vehicle and the caution of other motorists when passing by the burned-out car led to long delays, already common from the neighboring municipality of Sant Adrià de Besòs to the Bac de Roda exit. in Llobregat sense. For more than an hour one of the two lanes of this ring road was closed to traffic.
The intensity of the flames and the dense smoke caused by the fire drew the attention of the drivers and the neighbors closest to the place where the car caught fire. The occupants of the vehicles that were passing by the damaged car at that time recorded with their mobile phones the moment in which the dark blue Ferrari burned without causing any personal injury.
In the images, which have been posted on Twitter by SocialDrive, a community of drivers who share real-time traffic information, flames and a cloud of black smoke are seen billowing from the rear of the Ferrari. A person – who could be the owner or driver of the vehicle – is next to the sports car with a mobile phone in hand with which he probably notified the traffic authorities to come to his rescue.
The fact that the car that burned was a luxury vehicle and more specifically a Ferrari brand sports car caused even greater expectation among users who were driving along the Ronda Litoral at that time. However, according to the images disseminated through social networks, the incident did not cause the voyeur effect on the drivers who were driving at that time in the direction of Besòs, since it is noted that traffic is fluid. However, minutes later the Servei Català de Trà nsit reported the existence of retentions also between Bac de Roda and Sant Adrià de Besòs.
The rapid intervention of a fire department made it possible for the fire to be put out shortly after it had spread without causing any personal injuries. The only material damage of which there is evidence is limited to the damaged vehicle.
It is not very common for a fire to break out in a car, but we must be aware that it is an incident that can be very dangerous due to the large number of flammable elements in the vehicle.
In a situation like this, traffic experts point out that the first thing to do is stop the vehicle, preferably in a safe place away from the road, stop the engine and switch off the ignition. Next, we must abandon the vehicle and get as far away as possible. Finally, you have to call the emergency services 112 to report the fire and its location.
You should only try to extinguish the fire if you have a series of basic notions and if you have a fire extinguisher available in the vehicle.
