Barcelona will not make effective the clause by which it could unilaterally extend Arnau Tenas’ contract for two more seasons. The goalkeeper ends his relationship on June 30 – on Friday – and will not continue at the Blaugrana club

Tenas, born in Vic 22 years ago, arrived at Barça 13 seasons ago, with 9, to play for Benjamín A and has gone through all the categories of La Masia grassroots football. Despite the many calls for him with the first team – he made his debut in July 2020 – he is going to leave Barça without even making his debut, neither in the First Division nor in the Copa del Rey.

Of course, the goalkeeper has defended the subsidiary’s goal on 58 occasions.

The renewal of Iñaki Peña (24) as a substitute for Ter Stegen has left Arnau Tenas without a place, whose stage in the subsidiary, which plays in the First RFEF, seems completely exhausted. A solution to not let him escape would have been to renew him and give him up, as has recently happened with Nico or Alex Collado.

“I can confirm that Barça has not carried out the renewal”, confirmed the goalkeeper from the concentration of the under-21 team in Romania, where Tenas is playing the European Championship of the category. Tenas’s face, a culé by birth, was serious, according to the news that had been communicated to him. The goalkeeper will wait until he finishes his participation in the tournament with the national team to decide his future with peace of mind. As a free agent, he hopes he won’t be short of top-flight offers.

Without Tenas – regular starter in 30 matches this season with Rafa Márquez –, the Barça Atlético goal is in the hands of Nil Ruiz (20), Ander Astralaga (19) and Arnau Rafús (20).
