A man in Southwest Miami-Dade was recently arrested after a video surfaced showing him ramming parked cars in an attempt to evade the police. The 41-year-old driver, identified as Kevin Paul Prater, was seen driving a white pickup truck and trying to escape the authorities. The police were conducting surveillance on Prater’s truck, which had fled from a previous scene, leading to the confrontation in a parking lot.
In the video, Prater can be seen ramming into parked cars in an effort to get away after being surrounded by police vehicles. An elderly passenger, who was a relative of Prater, exited the truck during the chaotic situation but was unharmed. Prater was taken into custody at the scene and it was revealed that he was wanted for aggravated stalking, extortion, and making threats to kill a law enforcement officer.
According to a witness, Alex Fernandez, the scene was chaotic with the pickup truck being chased by the police. Prater tried to escape by crashing into various cars before the passenger tried to jump out. The police managed to block him in, break the window, and apprehend him without injuries reported.
It was also discovered that Prater was supposed to meet with his probation officer before the incident occurred. As a result of his actions, Prater now faces additional charges such as reckless driving, fleeing and eluding, battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest. This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of attempting to evade the police and the serious consequences that can follow such actions.
In situations like these, it is important to cooperate with law enforcement and follow their instructions to avoid putting oneself and others in harm’s way. The police are trained to handle such situations professionally and attempting to escape can lead to serious charges and potential harm. It is always best to comply with the authorities and resolve any issues through legal means rather than resorting to dangerous tactics like ramming parked cars to escape.
