The Spanish Football Federation, whose transition to the management board will be led by Pedro Rocha, issued a statement last night in which it requests time to undertake some changes that it considers “necessary.” “Relevant decisions are announced from the entity and a reasonable time is requested to stabilize first and progress later,” says the RFEF. Rocha will lead the transition process until the next elections after the decisions adopted by the commission of presidents of regional and territorial federations, and the board of directors/management commission of the RFEF, held yesterday.

“This institution is convinced that the transformations are necessary and, therefore, they will be carried out as quickly as possible, progressively,” says the Federation.

To this Rocha added: “We must start at the beginning. “It is essential to guarantee the future of Spanish football to undertake transformations progressively and recover the dignity and credibility lost after the events of the World Cup.”

The RFEF has also called for dialogue and cooperation in a “particularly atypical” scenario such as the one experienced with the Spanish team. The Federation says it wants to reinforce its commitment to the world champions, “for whom it feels enormous pride.”

“It is essential that international organizations, the media and society understand this and help us do so. A lot is at stake and we must be aware,” Rocha stressed.
