A former president of a condo association in Aventura, Gregori Arzumanov, has been charged with stealing over $1.5 million from the association. He was recently released on bond from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in West Miami-Dade. The 62-year-old appeared in court where it was ensured that the bail money came from his stepdaughter’s bank account and not from the alleged crimes he committed. The bail was set at $350,000, but Arzumanov only had to pay $35,000 for his release.

Arzumanov, who was the former president of Turnberry on the Green Condominium, used the stolen money for personal purchases like artwork and airplane fuel for flight lessons instead of making necessary repairs to the building. Aventura Police Chief Michael Bentolila described Arzumanov’s actions as a complete takeover of all assets related to the building, stating that he had never seen anything like it in his career.

The investigation into Arzumanov’s activities had been ongoing for four years before his arrest, with money playing a crucial role in the case. Additionally, there are questions surrounding a $15,000 check issued by the condominium association to the law firm representing Arzumanov in his defense. Arzumanov’s attorney, Sam Rabin, has stated that if the check was given improperly, he would refund the money.

Arzumanov has pleaded not guilty to all charges, which include racketeering, organized fraud, and money laundering. He declined to make any statements regarding the serious charges against him as he left the jail. The case continues to unfold as investigations and legal proceedings progress.
