The Slovenian Primoz Roglic confirmed this Saturday that he will leave Jumbo Visma at the end of the season. The triple winner of La Vuelta has made this decision to be the leader in the next Tour de France. The tricephaly situation that occurred after the Vuelta a España and the possible merger with Soudal Quick-Step have ended up convincing the Slovenian to leave his home.

“I can confirm that I will be leaving the team, but we will only communicate more about this after all the competitions that I will continue to participate in. I am looking forward to competing again,” the Slovenian said on Cycling Pro Net ahead of this Saturday’s Giro del Emilia.

Roglic is expected to finish his season on October 7 in Lombardy. Before, maybe I’ll do Tres Valles Varesinos (on October 3), “but we have to wait and see how I recover. I haven’t done much after the Vuelta and Emilia is only my first one-day race of the year. But I want to do it” .

The Jumbo team has given him freedom, as they confirm in a ‘tweet’: “After a memorable journey together, the Jumbo-Visma team gives Primoz Roglic the opportunity to pursue his ambitions elsewhere in the future. First of all , all attention will be focused on the upcoming Italian races,” they wrote.

The 33-year-old Slovenian has a contract with Jumbo-Visma until 2024. The former ski jumper joined the team in 2016 when it was called Lotto-Visma.

With the yellow and black jersey, Roglic won the Liège-Bastogne-Liège in 2020, the Vuelta a España three times (2019, 2020, 2021) and finished 2nd in the 2020 Tour de France after wearing the yellow jersey for eleven days .
