The Chicago Reader team recently gathered for an all-staff event to review their guiding policies and mission statement, take staff photos, and welcome new team members. The event provided an opportunity for longtime staffers to reconnect face-to-face after the start of the pandemic and meet new colleagues. Managing Editor Sheba White shared her experience of meeting a political candidate in a casual setting during the event, emphasizing the importance of connecting with others in the community.

The People Issue, now in its ninth year, features 15 profiles of individuals who represent the diverse tapestry of Chicago.
