The american actor Danny Aiello, who among other things is known from the film ‘the Godfather’, is dead. He was 86 years old.

It confirms the Aiellos agent, Jennifer De Chiara, in an email to the New York Times.

the Death happened on Thursday. It tells the deceased actor’s manager, Tracy Miller, to Fox News.

– It is with great sadness that we can tell, Danny Aiello, beloved husband, father, grandfather, actor and musician, last night passed away after a short illness, says the manager.

According to TMZ was the actor suddenly bad and was therefore sent to the hospital for treatment. Here was he, according to the media affected by an infection, and he died Thursday evening shortly after the family had come to visit him.

Danny Aiello reached a long and successful career in Hollywood, where he got his breakthrough at the beginning of the 1970s with a role in the film ‘Bang the Drum Slowly” with Robert De Niro in 1973. The year after he played with in the second of the films in the ‘Godfather’trilogy.

In 1989, he was nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actor for his role as Salvatore ‘Sal’ Frangione in the film ‘Do the Right Thing’.

Danny Aiello leaves a wife and three children. His fourth child, Danny Aiello III, died of cancer in 2010.
