Despite multiple promises that it would decrease premiums by $2,500 for families, average premiums for Obamacare plans will go up 25 percent this year, with some states seeing as much as a 116 percent increase. The people of Washington can expect premiums to go up by 13.6 percent for 2017; Idahoans can expect premiums to increase between 20 to 29 percent. Combined with the average family deductible being $12,000, how is this affordable?
Federally controlled health care is a failure and is why the American people elected Republicans in November. Republicans have promised the last seven years to repeal Obamacare and here is their chance. Sadly, while Congress began the first step of repeal in early January, Republicans blew past their Jan. 27 self-imposed deadline to write a repeal bill, and the timeline is starting to slip.
The longer Congress waits to repeal Obamacare, the greater the pain millions of Americans face with rising costs and fewer choices. The American people are so close to taking back their health care from meddling government bureaucrats. Republicans need to stop delay and fulfill their promise to repeal and do it now. There are no excuses.
