The Danish tenniskomet Holger Rune has an ambition to take a big leap up the world ranking, in the season 2020, which is the first, where he is fully dedicated to the senior level.

But so far, they have great results let wait. On Monday, he lost clearly in the first round of the Challenger tournament in Punta del Este in Uruguay.

The 16-year-old Rune, who ranks at number 854 in the world, lost with the digits 1-6, 2-6 to france’s Geoffrey Blancaneau, it is number 317.

Rune had been given a wildcard for the tournament, which is played on clay.

The young dane also received a wildcard to the year’s first tournament in Noumea in New Caledonia. Here he lost also in the first round of the tournament on the challenger level, which is the second highest level.

Then followed a wildcard to an ATP tournament – the highest level – in the ASB Classic in Auckland, where it was defeated in the second round of the qualifying stage.

He won without a fight in the first round and was thus six points that sent him 165 seats forward on the world ranking and number 854.

It shall to the story about the difficult start in 2020, that Rune so far in the 2020 only has met opponents who are ranked much higher than himself.

Monday’s opponent, which is the number of 317, is the lowest rank, he has met.

Rune won last year juniorernes the French Open, as well as juniorernes sæsonfinale, which sent him up to number one on juniorernes world rankings.
