The Unió Esportiva Mataró shone with its own light in the 69th edition of the city’s ‘Nit de l’Esport’, held at the Teatre Monumental. The awards, which recognized the milestones of the best teams and athletes of 2023, awarded the club in one of the important categories.
The UE Mataró 3×3 U17 basketball team was honored with the prestigious “Best Youth Team” award. Their great last season where they won the Spanish Championship earned them recognition, showing the emerging talent in the club’s youth system.
Throughout the gala, a special mention was also made to the UE Mataró senior male for his promotion to LEB Plata achieved last year. The great feat did not go unnoticed despite not receiving a specific award throughout the night.
In addition, Eduard Coll was one step away from collecting the award for “Best Youth Male Athlete.” He came in second place behind Victor Romero, a handball player at Fraikin Granollers. Still, Coll’s exceptional performance during 2023 had him recognized in the form of a diploma.
The Mataronesian club continues to leave its mark on the local sports scene, demonstrating that youth talent and commitment to sport are the key to its success. One more night, they continue to reap the fruits of their commitment to 3×3 basketball.
