The plenary session of the Lleida Provincial Council this Monday initially approved the Municipal Cooperation Plan, which will allow 17.5 million euros to be transferred directly to the coffers of the town councils and decentralized municipal entities of the region for the financial year 2024. 8 will be allocated .7 both to the financing of current spending and investment spending.

The objective is to move from a “burdensome and ineffective” subsidy model to an “agile” transfer system, which will allow local entities to have the money to cover their expenses and investments when they need it, as explained by the first vice president of the corporation, Agustí Jiménez.

With this measure, the Provincial Council hopes to relieve the Department of Municipal Planning and Cooperation of the large administrative burden that it has borne until now. “They will save time and they will also do it for the benefit of our municipalities,” said Jiménez.

This Tuesday a meeting will be held for mayors, secretaries and auditors to explain the technical details of this new model.

In the motions section, the plenary session has unanimously approved the motion presented by the political group Ara Pacte Local for the modification of the Consolidated Text of the Municipal and Local Regime Law of Catalonia, so that they can be processed in periods of 4 years, and not annually, minor contracts. They are those that do not reach 15,000 euros, when it comes to supplies or services, and 40,000, when it comes to works contracts.

On the other hand, the motion presented by the Junts-Impulsem political group in support of the Seu d’Urgell airport has been rejected, with the favorable votes of the Junts-Impulsem Group; the abstention of the PP Group, and the votes against the groups, Ara Pacte Local, UA, PSC and ERC.
