Maritime Rescue has rescued this Friday 105 migrants of sub-Saharan origin, including seven women and two minors, in a canoe that was located about 9.6 kilometers from El Hierro, in the Canary Islands.
The Salvamar Adhara boat was in charge of assisting the migrants after receiving a notice from the SIVE radar of the Civil Guard. According to the initial statements of those rescued, the barge would have left Dakar (Senegal).
La Salvamar accompanied the migrants to the port of La Restinga, where they arrived around 5:00 p.m., local Canary time. All the people, who were traveling in a wooden cayuco of about 15 meters in length, are in apparent good health.
