The National Police have arrested at the Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport a man claimed by the judicial authorities of Hungary, for having committed crimes of fraud, fraud, document falsification and against public trust, when he was going to take a flight to to London.
In the European Arrest and Extradition Order (OEDE) by the Hungarian authorities, the now detained, 44-year-old Ukrainian national, is charged with a total of four crimes for which he could face a maximum sentence of up to five years. of prison.
According to police sources, when National Police agents assigned to the Alicante-Elche Airport Border Post were carrying out prevention work, they carried out checks on the documentation of a Ukrainian citizen who intended to take a flight to London.
The agents detected that this man had an associated identity through which he had identified himself on a previous occasion as a Hungarian citizen with a name, surname and date of birth completely different from his real identity.
In addition, a European Arrest Warrant for Extradition was in force for that identity by the Hungarian authorities for the crimes of fraud, fraud, document falsification and against public trust.
After being taken to the Airport police station, the agents confirmed “without any doubt” the full identity of the person identified, and verified that he had indeed been wanted by the Hungarian authorities since February 2021 for the crimes previously stated. after having falsified administrative documents and profited from their sale to third parties.
The detainee was transferred to Madrid and placed at the disposal of the Central Investigative Court of the National Court, the judicial body in charge of carrying out the procedures for his subsequent extradition.
