National Police agents have arrested seven people and investigated another four for possession of child pornography in storage clouds. The detainees used instant messaging applications to obtain the content that they later stored. In addition, one of them used an application to contact minors from whom he demanded photographs of a sexual nature.

The investigation has been carried out by agents from the Central Cybercrime Unit and the arrests have been carried out in nine Spanish provinces: Alicante, Asturias, Barcelona, ??Madrid, Málaga, Palencia, Valencia, Valladolid and Zaragoza.

The agents verified that those arrested saved the files in remote storage instead of on local devices, to avoid being discovered in case a friend or family member had access to their devices.

In this way they could access the content from any terminal, which makes it very useful for this criminal specialty, where the perpetrators need to consult the material at the precise moment in which they have a sexual impulse.

Some of those arrested used instant messaging applications to exchange sexual content starring minors. Another of those arrested used a videoconferencing application to contact minors from whom he demanded sexual photographs in exchange for sending them similar ones.

During the searches at the homes of those arrested, the agents seized a total of six smartphones, a tablet, three laptops, three hard drives and a USB memory.
