A group of teachers and interim teachers who passed last summer the competitions called by the Department of Education but were left without a place (the best positioned passed) demand that the Generalitat join the staff directly after learning about the macro opposition competition called in 2024.

This is a group of 4,000 teachers who did not obtain the position despite passing the extraordinary competition. Those affected defend that their opposition process is still in force.

On November 27, Educació announced a call for 9,000 teacher and professor positions in the spring to reduce interim staff and comply with the European Commission’s guidelines that require reducing interim staff to percentages below 8%. This call represents a deviation of 7,189 places from those initially planned.

The group argues that on the one hand, 9,000 more positions have been announced and, on the other, there have been 4,000 teachers with an approved process. They want to avoid going through “the personal, work and economic exhaustion that it entails” again.

Remember that it is the department that has committed fraud of law and abuse of temporality.

The department explained at the beginning of the school year that these interims would have merit points in subsequent calls but that, for legal reasons, they had to go through the opposition competition again.

The interims ask Minister Anna Simó for “political will” and to “find a compatible formula.”
