Strong thunderstorms are headed for the Lehigh Valley.
The National Weather Service about 4 p.m. advised that the storms carry wind gusts of up to 50 mph, lightning and half-inch hail, along with torrential rainfall and the potential of localized flooding.
The severe weather is expected to reach Allentown around 4:25 p.m., Bethlehem 10 minutes later and Easton 5 minutes after that.
The storm is part of a line sweeping across the region with strong winds, pushing out the record-setting warm February air of the last several days.
The storm system spurred tornado warnings for some areas Saturday afternoon, including areas around Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Lancaster and Washington, D.C., according to the National Weather Service.
The weather service said wind is the strongest threat with these storms, and encouraged reports of gusts and damage.
A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect for the Lehigh Valley until 9 p.m.
Behind the storms, more seasonable weather will return. Highs are expected to be in the 50s on Sunday, down from the temperatures in the 60s and 70s the last few days.
