CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 35-year-old man is dead after a Monday morning shooting at an apartment complex on the city’s East Side, police say.
Investigators remain at the scene at the Outhwaite Homes on East 55th Street and Outhwaite Avenue in the city’s Central neighborhood.
Cleveland police spokeswoman Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia said the shooting happened about 7:45 a.m. The victim was shot several times and died at the scene, according to police.
Additional details about the shooting, including a motive and possible suspect were not immediately disclosed.
A resident of the apartment complex, who asked not to be named, said she heard approximately six gunshots at about 6 a.m. Monday.
She said police arrived a short while later.
At least one apartment remained cordoned off with police tape as of 10 a.m. Officials could be seen wheeling a gurney away from the home’s entryway.
The death marks Cleveland’s 19th homicide of the year.
