GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — No one was harmed when a shot was fired during an armed robbery in Garfield Heights.

Two unidentified men took $230 from a 20-year-old man early Thursday in the woods near East 131st Street at Alvin Avenue, according to a police report.

A woman heard the gunshot just after midnight and called 911. The woman said she saw three men run from the woods.

An officer en route to the scene spotted the 20-year-old man sitting at the bus stop on East 131st Street at Saybrook Avenue. The man told the officer he’d just been the victim of a robbery, according to the report.

The victim said he’d been walking through the woods when two men stopped him ordered him to the ground. When the victim refused, one of the men pulled out a handgun and fired a single shot, the victim told police.

The men took $230 in cash the victim before they off toward Alvin Avenue, the victim said. Officers searched the area but could not find the two men.

No arrests have been made but the incident remains under investigation, police said.
