After a schoolgirl left a note stating that she was being held against the will of her mother and did not know where her son was, police obtained a warrant to search the area and discovered the boy’s remains.

The school contacted police and they set up surveillance near the house, CBS affiliate KLAS TV reported. Police saw Brandon Toseland and a woman leave the house around 10:15 Tuesday morning. The car was then stopped by officers.
According to police, the woman claimed she hadn’t seen her preschool-aged daughter since December 11, and that her boyfriend Toseland wouldn’t allow her into certain areas of her home, including the garage.

Police obtained a search warrant to search the house and found the remains Tuesday afternoon. The child was believed to have been kept in the freezer since December, according to police.

Spencer stated that the girl, who was a daughter of the woman and was now in the care of relatives.

Spencer stated that Toseland was not the father of the children. He was initially taken into custody on suspicion of kidnapping, but would also be charged with the boy’s murder.

KLAS heard from Ebonie Washington, a neighbor who said that she was “blown away” by the news.

Washington stated, “I truly feel for the mother and that child that you had to bring a letter to school.” It’s both heartbreaking and surprising, as a mother.
