Young said that the attack was “probably the most vicious, gruesome” he has seen in the past 20 years.
Jean R. Macean was identified as the arrested person.
Police said Monday that they found two bodies lying on the roadside, “covered in blood, with multiple stab wounds and lacerations” to their bodies. Police identified the victims as Terry Aultman, 48, and Brenda Aultman (55).
Witnesses reported that witnesses saw the man and woman lying face down in the grass near a sidewalk. Police claimed that both victims were slashed in the throats.
Authorities said that two bicycles found near the bodies were being investigated as evidence. Investigators believe the couple were riding their bikes home from participating in Bike Week celebrations when they were attacked.
For any information on the attack, police offered $50,000 to anyone who provided it.
The motive of the incident has not been shared by police.
