A 24-year-old St. Cloud man died Sunday when his car struck a concrete pole and a tree, troopers say.
Randy Collado was heading south on Red Jasper Drive near Partin Settlement Road about 11:20 p.m. when he lost control of his 2005 Acura, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The car went off the road and onto the west shoulder, then hit the pole and tree.
Collado was declared dead at the scene.
Red Jasper Drive is a short road between Kissimmee and St. Cloud that leads to an apartment complex.
Troopers said it’s unknown whether Collado was wearing a seat belt.

As SunRail officials struggle with uncertainties over when to apply for an essential and already delayed federal grant or when the southern expansion into Osceola County will be complete, one matter is abundantly clear but not talked about much: the cost of collecting fares from riders – arising from ticketing machines, armored cars, staff and other expenses – is greater than the revenue brought in by fares.
