According to police, two teenagers were arrested after allegedly shooting a boy aged 5 years old in a Detroit house.
According to Detroit Police Commander Michael McGinnis, the 16- and 17 year-old suspects were captured Monday in the same area where the alleged murders occurred.
While a prosecutor prepares the charges, they are currently held in a youth home.
Fox 2 Detroit reports that Caleb, a 5-year-old boy was killed execution style. Lashon Marshall and Aaron Benson, his boyfriend, were also killed in the house.
After not hearing from Benson for several days, a relative went to his home on the west side Detroit on Sunday afternoon.
According to Chief James White of Detroit Police, the backdoor was open and could have been kicked in. Police immediately responded and found the two adults. The 5-year-old boy was then found dead in another room.
Police received a lot of tips and were able identify the suspects and arrested them on Monday.
Although it is not clear when or what was the motive, McGinnis stated that the suspects knew their victims.
McGinnis stated Tuesday that words cannot describe the pain of witnessing a 5-year old child die from a gunshot injury.
Seventeen children in Detroit under 17 years old have been killed this year after they or another child seized an unlocked firearm.
Last year, Detroit saw 67 children shot and nine killed.
