An 18-year-old boy drowned this Sunday in the Xúquer river near the municipality of Antella (Valencia), as reported by the Valencia Provincial Fire Department Consortium and the Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU).

The consortium had been alerted, around 3:23 p.m., of the disappearance of the young man, who was in the area with a group of people, whose track had been lost in the river.

A consortium V-990 helicopter was mobilized to the place, with the GERA rescue group and a doctor, as well as firefighters from the Xàtiva parks and volunteers from Navarrés, the consortium’s forest brigade and a forest fire unit from the Generalitat Valenciana. The CICU also transferred a SAMU unit and another from the Basic Vital Service (SVB) to the site.

The troops began the search inside the river, with equipment for intervention in water rescue, and located the unconscious man.

The doctor from the consortium helicopter, together with the medical personnel dispatched to the area, proceeded to carry out resuscitation maneuvers. Upon his arrival, the SAMU medical team could only confirm the death of the young man. The judicial autopsy will reveal the causes of the drowning, adds the CICU.
