A total of 17,767 people have taken the tests of the opposition competition since this morning to fill 9,344 vacant teaching positions in the Ministry of Education of the Generalitat.
Vacant positions will be filled in a total of 90 different specialties and these competitions are “the first” after the extraordinary stabilization competitions and are of an ordinary nature, the department reports in a statement.
There are 224 courts in 136 locations spread across 68 Catalan municipalities, and this Friday the applicants have already sent their educational programming to the court and language tests have also been carried out on the applicants who have not accredited the required levels.
On Saturday, applicants must deliver to the court the didactic program that they have prepared on paper and then take the first test, which consists of two parts: practice and the development of a topic.
The second test is the in-person presentation of the didactic programming and the learning situation or teaching unit, and the courts will publish the citations in advance.
Of the positions announced, 2,131 are for teachers – for Infant and Primary -; 6,947 for secondary school teachers; 55 for Official Language School (EOI); 71 for teachers of plastic arts and design; 9 for plastic arts and design workshop teachers; and 131 for specialist teachers in unique sectors of FP.
The specialties with the most vacancies are Mathematics (with 720); Primary Education (705); English (627); Catalan language and literature (555); Educational guidance (519); and Technology (509).
The department has stated that once these oppositions end in June, the interim position of the Department of Education will be below 8%, also due to the stabilization after the merit contest and the extraordinary oppositions of 2023.
The new trainee officials will begin working in September in the educational centers they are assigned to, and those who passed the extraordinary stabilization competitions will also be appointed as trainee teaching officials.
