CLEVELAND, Ohio — Alec Baldwin is taking his Donald Trump impression from “Saturday Night Live” to the pages of a new book.
Baldwin and Kurt Anderson, co-founder of Spy Magazine and host of NPR’s “Studio 360,” are teaming up to write a satirical look chronicling Trump’s first year in office, The New York Times reported.
The book, called “You Can’t Spell America Without Me: The Really Tremendous Inside Story of My Fantastic First Year as President Donald J. Trump,” will be published by Penguin and hit bookshelves November 7, about one year after Trump was elected.
Baldwin and Anderson will use the actor’s scathing impersonation from “SNL” — which has been known to irk the president into angry Tweet storms — as the foundation for the book and then build upon that. It’ll be written in Trump’s voice, or at least, Baldwin’s exaggerated version of him.
“I think we’ll be channeling and amplifying the real Trump,” Andersen told the Times. “Writing for a five- or 10-minute sketch is different than writing a book, which has to be a narrative.”
While Baldwin was the inspiration for the parody, he said Anderson will do most of the writing.
“We have that arrangement whereby he doesn’t put on the wig, I don’t open up a Word document,” Baldwin told the newspaper.
