Bill Paxton, the hard-working actor and director known for roles in HBO’s “Big Love,” “Titanic,” “Apollo 13,” has died, according to People magazine, from complications from a surgery. He was 61 years old.
“It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery,” reads a statement from a family representative for Paxton, which was sent to People magazine. “A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker. Bill’s passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable.”
The Texas native was also known for roles in “The Terminator” “Weird Science,” “Twister,” and was nominated for an Emmy Award for his role as Randolph McCoy in the miniseries, “Hatfields and McCoys.”
Paxton’s current roles included that of Det. Frank Rourke in the CBS crime drama “Training Day,” and, according to his IMDB page, a role as Emma Watson’s father in an upcoming sci-fi thriller called “The Circle,” due for release this spring.
