A woman from the cleaning service in the town of Sant Celoni (Barcelona) died this past Wednesday after being trapped in the sweeping machine. According to the authorities, the 45-year-old woman had gotten out of the vehicle and was hit by the machine, which caused her death. However, an investigation has been opened to clarify what could have happened so that the woman ended up fatally trapped in the machine.
In addition to the medical services, the Generalitat Fire Brigade, the Local Police and the Mossos d’Esquadra also went to the Barcelona municipality to help the woman but they could not do anything to save her life.
As reported by the Mossos, the police have brought the facts to the attention of the investigative court on duty and the Department of Business and Labor, in accordance with the usual procedures in workplace accidents with fatalities.
From the Sant Celoni City Council they have lamented this tragic event, through their social networks, and have shown their grief and solidarity with the victim’s family. They have also announced that today there will be a minute of silence before the Municipal Plenary.
