Okuda San Miguel is a Spanish urban artist who has gained worldwide fame for his vibrant and colorful artwork, which blends elements of popular culture, pop art, and surrealism. His works include Iglesia Skate (in Asturias), Oso Okuda (in Hong Kong), 11 mirrages of freedom (in Morocco) or New Mona Lisa (in Paris). Now, he has surprised again with his latest creation: a personalized Porsche 928 with his unmistakable style.
The artist studied color psychology and, beyond his passion for different shades, what fascinated him was how identified he felt when learning about the ideas that each color conveys in art. However, the creator not only uses them to capture his works, he considers them a necessity: “They are very important in my routine, to such an extent that my clothes are an extension of my work,” explains Okuda in an interview for Magazine.
The Porsche 928 is a classic model of the German brand that was produced between 1977 and 1995. It is a high-end sports car (at the time the most expensive of the brand) that has become an icon of design and style. Now, thanks to the creativity of Okuda San Miguel, this car has taken on a new artistic dimension.
Despite not being closely linked to cars, -“the truth is that I don’t have a license”, confesses the artist-, Okuda faced this new project with great motivation, since it was an important collaboration with the sports car brand deluxe. For him, a car means the path and trajectory of it. “We have traveled a lot with friends, with artists, and this is one of the most rewarding parts of my profession,†he says. That is why the artist decided to add two pictorial works of costumbrista themes, specially created for the project. “In them we find people next to the car to reflect the life that exists around the vehicles,” says the illustrator.
Okuda San Miguel’s work is characterized by the use of bright colors and geometric shapes that create a striking visual effect. In the case of the Porsche 928, the artist has covered the car with a series of geometric patterns in shades of pink, blue and yellow that intertwine creating a hypnotic effect.
In addition to the geometric patterns, the car also features figurative elements typical of Okuda’s style, such as stylized animals and surreal characters. Among the many details that the vehicle has, the designer’s favorite is the embroidery on the steering wheel, which represents an eye with a chromatic circle: “They are two of my icons that until now I had not used combined,” he confesses.
A product like the classic 928 was difficult to code as many people go for simple, classic luxury. However, the author considers that “art and luxury go hand in hand”. Specifically, on its 75th anniversary, Porsche is committed to dream color in full color, diversity and being guided by dreams driven by dreams, something that Okuda believes “links directly with my language and with my message”, says the artist. .
The customization process for the Porsche 928 has taken four months and required a great deal of work and attention to detail to ensure that every part and detail is consistent with Okuda San Miguel’s unique style. “During the first two months we were considering various ideas and visual proposals until we decided on the final one. We dedicate the remaining two months to the process of artistic intervention on the carâ€, says the author.
The end result is a unique car that combines the elegance and sophistication of the Porsche 928 with the vibrant and dynamic flair of the designer’s art. This custom Porsche 928 from Okuda has already started to turn heads around the world, among car lovers and art fans alike. Its colorful and unique character makes it stand out from the crowd, and it has generated great interest and attention around the world.
Okuda has revealed that there will soon be a new collaboration with a prestigious fashion firm, which will be announced at the end of this year. On the other hand, he is working on different works such as the Metamorphosis architectural project. They have developed Living in a Dream which consists of habitable sculptures, the first one is already built in Mexico and they will continue working on this project both in Mexico and in Spain.
