An incident of road rage in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, led to a man facing multiple charges after allegedly hitting another car and attempting to hit several people on foot. The altercation took place on a Sunday afternoon at 55 Washington Street when 61-year-old Alan Eugene Stec reportedly passed a pickup truck, abruptly stopped, and collided with the vehicle while backing into his driveway. Inside the pickup truck were a male driver, an adult female passenger, and a 9-year-old girl.
According to prosecutors, Stec bit the arm of the pickup truck driver when he tried to retrieve the man’s license plate number. Subsequently, Stec allegedly tried to run over the driver and passengers as they stood in the yard. Witnesses reported hearing distressing screams, particularly from young children.
Following the confrontation, Stec attempted to escape on foot towards a wooded area behind his house but was apprehended by officers who used a stun gun during the arrest. He also reportedly spat on the arresting officers. After being taken to a hospital for evaluation, Stec appeared in court for his arraignment wearing a rainbow-colored sequin dress.
During the court appearance, Stec denied hitting anyone and expressed a desire to attend a job interview the following day. However, he is facing a slew of charges, including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault on a child under 14, malicious destruction of property, reckless driving, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assault on police officers, among others. Additionally, Stec received citations for traffic violations.
Stec is scheduled to return to court for a dangerousness hearing and a mental health evaluation. The seriousness of the charges against him indicates the gravity of the situation and the potential consequences he may face for his actions. This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of road rage and the importance of maintaining composure and civility while driving to ensure the safety of oneself and others on the road.
