Businessman Íñigo Onieva, husband of Tamara Falcó, has recently opened ‘Casa Salesas’, a restaurant located in the Las Salesas neighborhood, Madrid. Since its inauguration last week, this new establishment has aroused great interest and promises to become a landmark in the capital. However, the reception has not been entirely positive, as residents of the area have expressed their dissatisfaction with the restaurant’s waste management.
Casa Salesas, shared ownership with José López and Iván Espinosa, and operated under the company Casablanca Hospitality, has been singled out by neighborhood residents due to the large amount of trash it generates. As reported in the program ‘Ni que fuerámos shhh’, hosted by María Patiño and broadcast on Twitch and YouTube, the garbage containers in front of the restaurant are constantly overflowing, filling the sidewalk with black bags and waste.
María Patiño has collected complaints from neighbors, who report a considerable increase in garbage in the streets. Images shared by the program show the overflowing containers and the sidewalk full of waste. Lydia Lozano, a collaborator of the program, added that not only food is found, but also numerous glass bottles, which represent an additional danger. Lozano also criticized the lack of recycling, calling the situation “indecent.”
The situation has generated significant discomfort among residents, who feel affected by the environmental impact and lack of cleanliness. The accumulation of garbage has led neighbors to launch a war cry against the restaurant, just a week after its opening. The garbage problem could put the reputation of Onieva’s promising project at risk.
In addition to complaints about waste management, the program also highlighted a controversial self-review by Íñigo Onieva on Google, in which he awarded five stars to his own restaurant. This action has been seen as a strategy to artificially improve the online reputation of the venue.
Neighbors hope that immediate measures will be taken to solve these problems and maintain cleanliness and order in the Las Salesas neighborhood. Meanwhile, ‘Not even that we were shhh’ has announced that one of his collaborators, Víctor Sandoval, will visit Casa Salesas to try his cooking and evaluate first-hand the situation at the restaurant. Also, be careful! A bag of garbage will be brought to be analyzed on set. Crazy!
