Sonsoles Ónega is one of the most important television faces of Atresmedia. The journalist made the jump to Antena 3 in 2022 after years of professional career in the Mediaset audiovisual group. A signing that caused a lot of talk in the summer of that same year due to the immediacy with which the journalist’s change from one network to another occurred.
Now, after almost two seasons on the air, Sonsoles Ónega has managed to carve out a niche for herself on the television grid and position herself as one of the most relevant communicators today, despite the enormous competition every afternoon. For this reason, the presenter recently wanted to open up about her career at Antena 3, revealing details of her signing that were completely unknown to her.
The presenter of And Now Sonsoles visited the Drama Queen podcast this past Thursday, presented by her partner Pilar Vidal, where she revealed how her sudden signing was planned and the unprecedented conditions she placed on Atresmedia.
”It was sudden and unexpected without a doubt, especially for me because I thought I would die on Telecinco. It was my home, also CNN, but above all it was at Mediaset where I had done the most important thing in my career until then. He had no problem, he had shown no signs of fatigue, anxiety, displeasure or unhappiness. Quite the opposite. I was very happy at Telecinco,” he began by saying.
But despite the excitement she had about starting a new project, the journalist confessed that “she didn’t really know what she was going for.” ”When they explain to me what they want, they tell me ‘do something current”. And that was very important to me, that it was current because I think that is where I handle myself best. “I don’t see myself doing anything else,” she acknowledged.
Of course, the presenter confessed that, since she did not know the time slot in which the program was going to be broadcast, she decided to put a condition on the network. ”I’ve never told it, but I’m going to tell you. I told them ”I don’t want to do the morning, please”. First, because there is already a person who does it for the network you are calling me for (Susanna Griso). And second, because in the chain I am leaving, it is the person who has given me great advice and opportunities (Ana Rosa Quintana),” she said.
His request did not pose any problem for the audiovisual group, which had several project ideas on the table. ”The weekend was also considered. But already in September, when I signed the contract, they told me that I could be an afternoon newspaper. And that’s how it began,” the journalist said.
