Fashion collections are the perfect example of what themes or concepts move the world. All the stores and brands that exist and have, from Celio to Uniqlo, have chosen to stretch the gum of the well-known collections, whether they are celebrating the lives of plastic artists, television series or movies. A broad market in this sense are pieces based on music groups. All styles and names have been represented in this idea, with more or less reaction.
Now, the next person in charge of jumping on the bandwagon of this trend is Saint Laurent. The late French designer’s luxury brand has unveiled a new collection of Nirvana t-shirts, inside The Vintage capsule. This is an initiative that offers all kinds of products that recall the classic, in relation to the Rive Droite concept store, a space located in the heart of Paris that offers the label’s most exclusive and limited edition purchases.
Inside this capsule, in addition to clothing, you can find the most varied items, from skateboards to portable arcade machines, through floats. In the textile section, Saint Laurent has offered pieces dedicated to artists such as Elvis Presley, but it is with this collection inspired by the Kurt Cobain band that spending skyrockets. And it is that the price range oscillates between 550 and 3550 euros.
The collaboration with Nirvana offers nine T-shirts and two exclusive collector’s items. The first of these is a vinyl titled You Who Are Leaving to Nirvana, produced by the Japanese singer Midori Takada and a group of Shingon Buddhist monks. It is ambient and spiritual music mastered at medium speed, an eclectic item that can be purchased in the Parisian store at a relatively affordable price, being the lowest of the entire collection: 54 euros.
On the opposite spectrum is the second non-T-shirt collection item. It is neither more nor less than a cassette tape from the album Nevermind, from 1991. It was the second of the North American band and the one that launched Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic to stardom. Unlike Midori Takada’s vinyl, this is one of the highest value pieces in the entire selection, with a final price of 2,400 euros.
Within the textile pieces, the most affordable T-shirt costs 550 euros: it is white, made of cotton and shows Cobain, Grohl and Novoselic stretched out on a bed. The most expensive of the whole set, the one for 3,550 euros, shows on black cotton the cover of the Incesticide album, a compilation of demos and singles that Nirvana recorded between 1988 and 1991, coinciding with the launch of Nevermind on the market.
